LELA -“And this little Piggy made us smile all the way home”

LELASeems like our lives are always running at such pace that we forget how and where we fit in the big picture. Between the television and radio we count our blessings as all the news floating around  is continually stapling us to negative swirls of political and moral judgment.
Cozumel humane societyAt Salsa and Salsa we count our blessings everyday as we see the faces of everyone on vacation anticipating having a good time. We know where you come from and how your lives are difficult and challenging. We know that the little time we share with you is and could maybe be the only hardy laughter you have all week.
We understand the pace you live, juggling families and pay checks and the unexpected cost of misfortune. And we can see in your presence how important our job really is when we start the shows.

DSC08652Like you, we have an important job to do in the 3 hours we spend together and creating joy and laughter is an essential part of our show. Since we make it look easy, the truth is, the demand on keeping up the energy of 100 passengers at the same time can be daunting, especially when we add the those free-flowing margaritas to the mix.

But we have a secret and now at the end of 2014, I am going to divulge the Salsa secret for the first time.

Salsa Lela

Enter Miss Lela:

You know who she is and have seen her at our shows and this mighty ceramic pig has now just about stepped over 60k in donations for a different charity every month. ( www.lelathepig.com)

The secret to our show and the enthusiasm we have in our presentation day after day is that we are part of something much more important in this world, its unabashed kindness. This is the excitement when Lela gives back. We have learned that the true joy to a happy fulfilled life is to give. When we see your smiley faces donating and posing for pictures, even kissing Lela’s nose, we realize that the truth is not in what we get everyday but in what we give and giving of ourselves is what Lela stands for in her joyous way.

Back2BackAll of the Dancing Chefs are continually determined to make this world a better place and to create beauty in the hearts of people where at times hope and humanity are lost.
Next time you have a chance to make a difference, just do it. Don’t think to hard about why and who and how people end up standing next to roadways or begging at stores. Think about how 50 cents or even a dollar can restore faith in someone who is down on their luck. Next time you leave all that food on your plate in a restaurant, don’t be embarrassed to ask for a to go bag. You will see and find someone, when you least expect it,to give it to. There are people waiting for your help ,whether you see them or not they exist on this planet and if everyone just took a few moments and gave just a little we would see more smiles and more open hearts.

Teach your children by example, take them with you to the goodwill bin or to the food bank or soup kitchen. Our children are the future and can make all the difference just like Lela has for thousands of people around the world. Make 2015 the year you do one thing every month for someone else without anyone knowing.

lela christmasFrom all the Dancing Chefs we want to thank you for your heartfelt donations. We want you to know that every place you have touched has inspired someone, whether it was an orphanage or individual: you have made a difference. So if you are still reading this then we want to wrap our arms around you for 15 seconds and give you a big hug of thanks. You inspire us to give so much!

LELA hits the road

Salsa LelaLELA (Lead, Encourage, Live and Act), the symbol of the altruistic side of the Salsa and Salsa tour, has recently turned 3 years old. She started a a little piggy bank at Salsa and Salsa in Mazatlan in 2010, filled with hope, positivity and love for the community. Since then LELA has collected over $30,000 USD for many organisations and charities world-wide and continues to touch the hearts of many guests who visit Salsa and Salsa in Mazatlan, Cozumel and Cabo San Lucas.

LELASalsa and Salsa also takes care of the communities, with charitable giving, which is awesome!” – Jonathan S.   South Carolina

We also gave to L.E.L.A. and paid it forward to help those in need!” – Heidi Bradshaw

They also have a program of donation to deserving organizations.” – Travelsalotindiana

It was the perfect excursion: great staff and family-friendly – plus Salsa and Salsa even supports various charities.”  – Glenn F, Texas

Many guests who joined Salsa and Salsa and donated to LELA themselves, suggested their favorite charity to the Dancing Chefs. The simplicity of paying it forward has been the driving force behind this initiative. LELA has supported small and big charities alike.

Salsa and Salsa dancing into the New Year

Welcome 2013Understanding our purpose is not always so easy, running with the world’s pace is even more frustrating. We watch TV and hear stories about the unthinkable or we read the tales about explorers wondering how they achieved their goals.
In order for us to understand our purpose we have to think and make sure we have designed a solid plan for our lives.
resolutionEvery year millions of people make new years resolutions and then begin the first day of January worried and nervous and wondering when and why they are going to fail. Its almost part of the resolution knowing that it really won’t last anyway but – hey what the heck! I think New Years resolutions are quite ridiculous, because I feel that daily resolutions better serve us.
New years resolutions are made to be broken and if you think for one moment about that,  you’ll also see that everyone of us has daily personal challenges that we might spend a life time trying to correct or understand or even care to define. I love Rick Warrens book” The Purpose Driven Life” because through it all I come to understand that the greatest gift on earth is the privilege to understand your purpose and to be able to love.
I work with the most amazing group of woman better known as the Dancing Chefs. To tell you the truth, I wish I was starting out in my twenties working and dancing and wondering and dreaming about my life. Dreaming, no problem, time left on this planet, an issue!
The purpose of our show is to entertain but the back end of our show has a purpose much more important. At every show we collect for a different charity around the world through our Miss Lela (see www.salsalela.com) and each month we give away hundreds of dollars to that charity.
dancing chefs 2012
We all feel and know and think the same about Miss Lela that our show has purpose, even heart and compassion.
Salsa and Salsa has reached over $30k for different charities around the world. We think its our purpose to help animals, sick and impoverished people on this planet, one dollar at a time, one day at a time, we forge ahead to make our purpose known.
This year and the next (just in case) my personal resolution will be to create a foundation for Lela, so that we can continue to Lead, Encourage, Live and Act as our beautiful creator intended.
This year we will all continue to Dance for those who can’t, to cook for the handicapped and continue to discover our purpose driven lives. Moving through the world and through ourselves to ignite the love we share.
Happy New Year from All the Dancing Chefs
And may you achieve your highest goals in the name of love!
